After the decision of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of August 8, 2011 on including media studies in its register of scientific disciplines, the Institute of Journalism of the University of Warsaw devoted its annual conference to this new academic discipline. The conference taking place on June 22–23 2012 was attended by representatives of almost every important scientific institutions and schools educating journalists. An extensive report on the conference is presented by Tomasz Gackowski – one of its organizers, while sharing his post-conference reflections is Wiesław Sonczyk, one of the participants.
