Who needs press studies?

In the article the author considers the scientific status of press studies - whether it is an independent and fully autonomous science with a defined subject of research, or is it rather of interdisciplinary character? Apart from methodological deliberations the article addresses the most current problems that should become research subjects of press studies, such as ownership relations in the media, the condition of journalistic environment or the relationship between the media and advertisers.
