Media Court Cases in Bydgoszcz (1984-2000)

The author gives an overview of court cases involving the media in Bydgoszcz between 1984 and 2000. Discussed in the article are the criteria used by the jurisdiction in determining reliability of information and general rules of journalist behaviour and ethics as criteria in verifying press mate-rials. Analysed was also the influence of press law on the effectiveness of privacy protection and its breaches due to various publications. The article outlines the tendencies present in jurisdiction in relation to the freedom of speech and the rules of journalist liability.
