Influence of journalist professionalism on the transformation of Polish press after 1989

The article presents two fundamental definitions of professionalism. Discussed was also media professionalism within the context of Polish specificity. Journalists have clearly defined career paths and clear rules outlining levels of professionalism. The main dilemmas of journalists in Poland are determined by media commercialization and politicization. Ownership greatly influences journalist professional status. There is a low level of journalists professionalism in Poland. It is necessary to consolidate ethics and rules, which are a base for professionalism in this field.
