"Fakt" - a new daily on the Polish press market.
Wiesław Sonczyk
In October 2003 the new national daily "Fakt" came out, arousing considerable interest in the media. By means of media theory analysis, the author of this article tries to establish the place of the daily on the Polish press market. He enumerates the key factors which might be decisive for the future of "Fakt" and points out its main competitors: "Super Express", another national daily, and also some local tabloids, very popular in their regions. The author is sceptical of the paper's popularity in the first weeks, indicated by circulation figures, as probably resulting from the low price per copy and the intensive advertising campaign launched by the publisher.
