Limitations in concentration of media enterprises versus freedom of speech - experience of the European Union and Poland

Jędrzej Skrzypczak

The paper takes up problems connected with the issue of concentration of capital in media. The starting point here is the thesis that a certain level of media concentration may constitute a threat for freedom of speech and pluralism in media. The author discusses regulations of law within this range, analyzing the law of the European Union, of selected member countries of the EU and up-to-date legal status being in force in Poland, as well as drafts of modifications to the act on radiophony and television. Conclusions include proposals of de lege ferenda modifications.
