Digital Radio - the Future of Radio Broadcasting in the XXI Century

Bartłomiej Łódzki

Despite the long years of technological stagnation, radio now faces an opportunity for development. This is possible due to digitalisation. The obsolete FM, AM and LW will be replaced by new solutions. Due to the modern technologies such as the ground DAB and DRM systems, broadcasting with high quality sound and new, previously unavailable services will be possible. The oldest electronic medium will have on offer the same technologies as television and the Internet. Despite technical and legal problems, the new systems have perspectives to become the binding standards not only in Europe but also throughout the world.
