The "short press item" as a journalistic genre

"Short press item" is a term used by the authors of the first work on word frequency in Polish - The Lexicon of Contemporary Polish. Frequency Lists, vol. 1 - 5, Warszawa 1974 - 1977 - to denote one of the five styles of written Polish which they distinguished. The author of the article characterises the style of "short press items". In her opinion, the closest equivalent of this style among the journalistic genres distinguished by specialists today is the note.
