English version of the article
A dynamic transformation of the global media environment has resulted in important changes in media studies around the world, especially in the empirical dimension of the research. However, considering the growing importance of the former world's communication peripheries, such as Central and Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia and the Arab world, there is much more to be done. This paper underlines the necessary presence of alternative typologies of media systems that will take into account the dynamically changing realities in developing countries. The concept of "contextual media orientation", proposed in the paper, looks at the Arab media from a non-normative and more elastic perspective, thereby providing a new analytical framework with which to study the evolving media transformation in culturally homogenous regions.
