The Israeli "Kurier" - beginnings
Elżbieta Kossewska
Establishing foreign language press in Israel was carried out, on the one hand, in order to influence and educate the electorate, on the other, to shape public opinion of those who did not read in Hebrew. The article discusses the beginnings of the daily "Kurier" which, similarly to many other foreign newspapers in Israel, was part of the Mapai party press system. The goal of "Kurier" was to shape public opinion of Polish Jews emigrating to Israel after 1956. This paper is a imperative source of information on the functioning of that press system for researchers planning to examine the subject of Polish press in Israel.
