Journalism between public service and the market
Tadeusz Kononiuk
In the liberal press doctrine the main task of the mass media is practical implementation of the citizen's right to information in the condition of a free market economy. This paradigm causes a strong conflict between the liberal free market ideology and the quality and freedom of information on the part of journalists and editors. In such a situation an imperative for income oriented mass media operation dominates the citizen's right to the objective ant integral information. The author considers that the above mentioned contradictions between the market oriented public servants, that journalists should be, determine real condition of journalism in each country.
