Innovations in front covers of printed illustrated magazines. A case study of the “Empire” monthly

The paper discusses innovative covers in illustrated printed magazines referencing to the example of the “Empire” monthly. It defines the term of “innovative cover”, and further gives an overview of innovation in the publishing industry. Through a case study of the “Empire” monthly (2012-2015), techniques and frequency of innovative covers have also been discussed.
