Traditional electronic media in mass-media regions of Poland before entering the European Union

Marek Jachimowski

Poland will enter the European Union with 17 mass-media regions. The newspapers including the general content of these regions and the traditional electronic media shaped in the historical time the mass-media space of periodical mass-media communication. As far as the number of the electronic media is concerned nowadays, the radio stations prevail both in the mass-media space and in the earlier periods. There is no licensed television in the majority of the mass-media regions. However, there are the regional branches of the Polish national public television in 12 mass-media regions.22 radio stations have their transmitters on the average in the mass-media regions. These are regional, supraregional and nation-wide stations. There are usually about 8 regional stations. We meet with the transmitters of public nation - wide stations, public regional stations, licensed nation - wide secular stations, licensed regional stations and licensed religions stations in all mass-media regions.
