Scientific sources in media studies. Overview

The mass-media in today's world use print, sound, and picture. In 20th century they became a permanent part of political, social and cultural life. Media moderate people and their world. One of the numerous consequences of this fact has been an increase of scientific research concerning media. The article tries to indicate that use of sources in media studies is necessary. The author presents his opinions on some problems concerning methodology, terms and factors influencing the shape and functions of media.
