The European Union has at its Disposal a Variety of Information Sources
Mariola Iwanowska-Maćkowiak
The article focuses on the most commonly available and useful information sources based on traditional and electronic forms of communication, printed and audiovisual sources. It gives an overview of publications and documents issued by individual European institutions such as the European Commission, the Council, the European Parliament, the Court of Justice and their consultative bodies. Many receivers of European information find printed sources of information complex and confusing in use. In many cases, it is quicker to search one of the European online databases or the EUROPA server. The databases, which are essentially electronically stored versions of the printed materials, have the advantage of being very up-to-date, and nearly all have a search function. It is therefore possible to find obscure or complicated information much more easily.
