PDF English version of the article

The essey is devoted to Stefan Kisielewski, one of the most prominent Polish columnists and authors of all times. His beliefs characterised great courage and conviction that even in communist times anyone can contribute to the common good. Kisielewski was an individualist, not willing to surrender to new fashions, opposing the violation of the freedom of speech, persistently fighting communist dictatorship, for which his articles published in the periods 1945‒1953 and 1956‒1989 seemed a tough challenge. His views turned out to be universal to such an extend that they have never lost its impact even in the times when Poland regained independence.
