"Wiadomości Literackie" 1924 - 2004

"Wiadomości Literackie" (1924 - 1939) was one of the best Polish socio-literary journals. Published with the object of describing and analysing Poland's cultural life, it was concerned not only with literature and poetry but also the arts, the theatre, the cinema, social phenomena and important events in European culture. The weekly co-operated with a large group of eminent contributors who represented various political and aesthetic orientations and successfully combined substantial content with an attractive form. The article draws attention to the singularities and functions of this journal which inspired Polish culture in the period between the two world wars and beyond.
