The article discusses the press system in France with a focus on dailies. It also points out the current problems it faces, such as low readership, as a result of various factors. The analysis is based on statistical and research data. Additionally, there is attention devoted to a phenomenon from 2007 when for the first time in a long time there was an increase in readership. The author also analyses the general media situation and attempts to draw broader conclusions. Aside from information on the specificity of the French daily press market, there is a comparison of its similarities to press markets in other countries in the European Union.
