On the methodology of media studies research

The article was written in response to review of a book The media image research methods (edited by Tomasz Gackowski and Marcin Łączyński, published in 2009) by prof. Wiesław Sonczyk (Content analysis method and the media image research, “Media Studies” 2009, No 3). The text contains a few methodological remarks on media research and media competence supported by Ryszard Krauze’s media image research results, based on information presented about him in Polish national dailies between July and September 2007. The author hopes that this article will be the beginning of a discussion on the methodological aspects of media research.
