Greek daily “Rizospastis” as an example of party press

The article presents the Greek daily, „Rizospastis”, the press paper of the Central Committee of the Greek Communist Party for over 90 years. It discusses the history of the paper, with a focus on the early, turbulent years of its existence and the over 35 year period of illegal activity. It presents its present position on the Greek press market and it analyses its ideological-language approach as a loyal follower of the Leninist conception of the press. The author attempts to answer the questions as to why and how this daily still enjoys considerable popularity and maintains a stable position on the market.
