Issues of the EU in the following information services: Gazeta.pl, Interia.pl, Onet.pl, and Wirtualna Polska.pl
Ignacy S. Fiut, Marcin Matuzik
The paper analyses the contents of texts devoted to the EU, presented in March and April 2003 in the following four Polish Internet portals: Onet.pl, Gazeta.pl, Interia.pl, and Wirtualna Polska.pl. The most often discussed issues in the studied period concerned the access of Poland to the political and economic structures of the EU, and the corresponding referendum. Other problems, such as agriculture, culture, and everyday life were not as frequently presented, though the issue of agriculture was quite often discussed. The most active portals in creating the image of the EU in relation to Poland were the following: Onet.pl, Gazeta.pl, while Interia.pl, and Wirtualna Polska.pl were relatively less active in informing the audience about relations between Poland and the EU. The regularity has been observed, that the Internet portals, which co-operate with traditional media have richer information service, and their transmissions are characterised by greater interactivity with the Web audience.
