Journalistic aspects of the activity of Foreign Propaganda Bureau delegates (1920-1921)

Agnieszka Dmowska

Critical international situation of Poland in summer 1920 and numerous reports on anti-Polish (hostile to Poland) propaganda spread by Bolshevik Russia and Germany influenced the decision on establishing a Foreign Propaganda Bureau at the Ministers Council Presidium, the task of which was to conduct a pro-Polish campaign on the arena of international politics. The task of BPZ (Foreign Propaganda Bureau) delegates was to reach political elites and public opinion, to pass true and positive information about the country and to change negative image of Poland. They executed this task due to their personal contacts with politicians, unionists and editors of opinion-forming publishing houses, as well as through press campaigns organized within various ranges publishing of their own and inspired articles placing dispatches, developing cooperation with foreign press agencics. The purpose of the article being a part of a doctor's thesis under preparation is to make some journalistic aspects of the activity of BPZ delegates known and better understood.
