Public Radio's Regional Mission

Edward Chudziński

The author in his article discusses the issue of public radio's regional mission, understanding it more widely than the KRRiT in its resolution and recommendations from 2004. He treats the Polish media regulator.s directives as prescriptive and distributive. According to the author, it is not possible to carry out regional missions in an in-depth and informal manner without taking into consideration the wider regional context. This term as well as the regional movement's achievements are not well known to the mission's creators from KRRiT as well as to those who are to carry out the mission in the regional broadcasting stations. Due to many changes which are to take place within public radio, the author is decisively against these stations being closed down or limited with regard to their functions and autonomy.
