Crime in Russian media

The goal of this article was to analyse the language used by the most popular Russian media (press, television, Internet) in their description of the two biggest terrorist attacks in Russia (in Moscow and in Bieslan). Using statistical analysis, key words with highest frequencies were derived (descriptions of terrorists and the terrorist attack itself). Resulting created were large collections of lexical fields, one of which consists of interesting legal terminology. An analysis of the phrases was carried out in order to provide a fuller picture of terrorists and terrorism as presented in media commentary.
